Ohmdoddtv - Tests in Nowhere

From the entrance of somewhere, lets begin Tests in Nowhere

Opening Thoughts:
Im not sure if this is definently true, but this is possibly the first puzzle map I've reviewed that was made souly in Minecrafts new creative mode. Now how useful is creative mode? I mean for most map creators we have mods that allow us to do all the things increative as well as more (especially if you use MCedit). But perhaps the creative mode isn't for the established map maker, maybe we should view it as an introdutionary force for people new to Minecraft who would like to play around with out the hassle of mods. Regardless, lets look how a creative map holds up against a Modded Puzzle map.

Visual:Colour, colour, colour! I know this map is supposed to take place in some sort of tower and as such its supposed to lookgood from the outside, BUT that doesn't mean you can't make each room intereting and dfferent! Nearly the entire opening map (The only finished puzzle area) is spent puzzling through iron rooms and then we we do get away from all the iron.. we end up in STONE ROOMS! When we do get away from the first puzzle area and into the land it is an interesting contrast, but it really is no excuse for the lack of imagination in the first portion.

Challenge:I wouldn't call this map easy, but it is far from hard either. Really the only decent challenges is to be found in the jumping puzzles, the rest of the time is prety well a cake walk. The area that probably could use a bit of work is the maze, there is pretty much no challenge thereas all you have to do is follow the torcches and yourway is clear.

Length:
The length of this map is padded, the whole last section literally has you climb up a tower for no reason other than to pad out the shortened lenght of the tower. As well as that the whole notion of running around the open world to find more puzzles is pointless, why not just have them all connected? I only came to this map for puzzles not for openworld running.

Puzzle Variety:
The difference in puzzles is probably the thing this map is best at, with the jumping puzzles and the swimming setion being fun, and whilst I have already made it clear why I had a problem with he maze I want to briefly talk about the button, piston bridge. Now I have a laptop and I play minecraft using the finger pad in the centre and not with a normal mouse, with that said this section is impossible, no I mean it it is impossible for me with the liitations of my harware to get acorss this, neglecting part of your audience for reasons of there hardware is not on. Ths puzzle really needs a fix. I'm not sure whether that would be via a different button sequence or whatever but it is unfair for people on normal laptops or on graphicaly slow computers. In the end there aren't enough puzzles hre so this section gets a bearly competent pass.

Things That Need Improvement:
- Puzzles Indicated
- Game Style
- Challenge and Length

Things That Need No-Improvement:
- The Jumping sections

Final Thoughts:
This map feels really under done, as though the creator only knocked it up over a fewdays and didn't get many testers on it. I hope that he goes away and redoes this map, because it can be salvaged through some edits. In shrt don't give up, but this isn't ready for play just yet.

Percentage Score: 45%
