Hippy500 - Parkour Runner

Get Running you Parkour Runner

Opening thoughts:Not one review ago I griped on that most puzzle maps will look to a purposefully story to add weight, using some unknowable evil as your reason to keep pressing through the myriad of puzzles. Well now I would like to intorduce you to the other type of puzzle map. The type where the creator did not intend there to be some unknowable evil forcing you through, and yet dear reader as I stand here before you now (or sit here typing no where near you now [except for you of course Stan because I'm right outside your window]) I can say without a shadow of a doubt that there is a great evil lurking in this parkour map, the great evil known as... The Creator!!!

Visuals: As I've said numerous times so far, in a puzzle map you need to have distinguishable colours for each of your rooms, so that they become as unique visually as they are in there puzzles, and in tha regard this map comes up trumps. every room has a new and unique visual style which all lend themselves quite nicely to the theme of the room.

Challenge: Whilst I wouldn't call ths map keyboard breakingly hard... it does pose quite a challenge. As you may have guessed from the genre most of these maps are variations on the age old formula, jump from one block to the next but it does throw a couple of difficult mazes and brain teasers, all of which can get a tad annoying when you're have to trudge through them a third time because you forgot the button sequence. Otherwise it is hard enough to keep you going
[3.5/5]

Length: Whilst I may have already hinted at there are alot of jump puzzles, and where as most maps would just copy paste there existing levels and just swap out the things our jumpig on and the room colour. This map seems to go the extra mile in maing eah of the challenges different, removing any of the unnecessary flab that is normally indicitive of puzzle maps. Thus the length of this map feels tight and perfectly streamlined.
[4.5/5]

Story: Again it is just a framework here, though I will say that I did enjoy th continued ribbing from the unseen 'map creator'. If anything it made me want to eep going just to see what hed do to me next.

Puzzle Variety: The puzzles in this map are a ton of fun, the jumping and thinking puzzles can be a good laugh. Although as I said before the map does have a tedency to force you to backtrack if you missed a single lever or note which does break up the flow a tad. But to be fair I don't hold it against the game because half the time it was my own stupid fault
[9/10]

Mechanical Ingenuity:
(Hooray I get to use the other category!) So in this game one of the ways to move forward is through your death, yes sometimes you will be forced into a room where hundreds of TNT blocks will blow you from here over kingdom come, past neverland and into somewhere around Narnia. And just when your wondering what the heck you were supposed to do in the room, you reawaken to find yourself in a new room. This method of illing the player only to bring them back somewhere new is very clever and I hope the creator releases it as a tutorial because I would like to see it in more games. (although I will say I once out thought the trap and spent 10 minutes trying to work out what to do next.

Things That Need Improvement:
- The tnt rooms aren't a sure bet to kill people and probably need to lock you in about halfway down the corridor and then try to blow them up

Things That Neeed No-Improvement:
- The Level Design
- The Puzzles

Final Thoughts:
For a parkour game, hyou won;t get much better than this. It has a wide vaiety of puzzles and a wide variety of room styles ensuring that you will never get bored. But be mindful that hile the game seems to be pitting you against others to collect diamonds we are all truely fighting against the evil creator, whoes mocking laughter is no doubt ringing through the very core of your mind as you read this.

Percentage Score:87%
